«Nordavia – Regional Airlines» is the Key Element of Transport Development of the Arkhangelsk Region

On March 15th, 2012, the Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Igor Orlov held a meeting with representatives of the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region and representatives of the Mining and Metallurgical Company "Norilsk Nickel". Among the topics discussed was development of regional aviation. "Norilsk Nickel" purchased "Nordavia – Regional Airlines", based in Arkhangelsk, in 2011.

"Realization of projects aimed at socio-economic development of territories is one of key aims of our activities," stressed the deputy director general of the MMC "Norilsk Nickel" Vyacheslav Poltavtsev, "Moreover, in the nearest future we are planning to extensively modernize production capacities and realize several projects which need substantial funding. That is why we need to have full understanding of which direction we need to take in order to efficiently develop transport logistics in your region."

There are no plans to cancel local flights within the Region. According to "Norilsk Nickel", modernization of air fleet might cause its reduction, although it shall not reflect on passengers and routes operated by the Airline. On the other hand, Mr.Orlov promised to personally control air fares set by air carriers. As the result of the meeting, the Governor Igor Orlov said, "We are not forcing business community because we are interested in mutually beneficial cooperation. Today I saw that the owner is ready to fulfill its social obligations, as well as to take part in realization of projects aimed at socio-economic development if the Region."
